James Moffat kicked off his 2015 season in fine style with a very competitive showing at the season-opening ‘Super Test’ at Sydney Motorsport Park on the weekend.
The annual fan day which traditionally opens the season was coined ‘SuperTest’ this year in reference to a new format which saw four test sessions spread over two days, capped by a whole-field flying-lap ‘Shootout’.
Reunited with engineer Perry Kapper for the first time since 2012, James worked through a chassis tuning and engineering plan aimed at maximising the Nissan Altima’s potential.
“It was great working with Perry again … we have that instant rapport and understanding, and we can just get on it with it. We spent the weekend not getting caught up in the timing screen, we just worked through what we wanted to get done,” James Moffat explained.
“We still need to find a bit more speed but I’m reasonably happy with my (Shootout) lap, I think I was a bit conservative in a couple of places.”
