James Moffat had his best qualifying of the 2012 V8 Supercar season in New Zealand, twice qualifying in the Top Ten for the pair of races on the streets of Hamilton.
Moff turned competitive qualifying speed into a steady run on Saturday, until he was crashed out of the race by another competitor, while on Sunday a penalty for an on-track altercation left him at the tail of the field.
"Unfortunately, although both days promised a lot after some competitive speed in qualifying, it wasn't to be. Saturday we didn't have the pace and I got nailed, hit the wall and broke the diff. And on Sunday we were okay but I got mixed up with (Michael) Caruso I don't really know what he was doing but I hit him and got a penalty. That really hurt as we had enough speed to finish maybe eighth."READ MORE

Signs of improved competitiveness despite some set backs was the outcome of James Moffat's weekend at Symmons Plains, Tasmania, for races three and four of the 2012 V8 Supercar Championship.
"I thought the car was reasonably good over the weekend, obviously ultimately not fast enough, but we seemed to be generally more competitive and I felt we're getting more out of it." James Moffat said.
"Unfortunately, we got bashed around a bit on the track and in the pits, and that cost us better results. Hopefully we can avoid that in new Zealand in three weeks' time."READ MORE
