Frustration Builds for Moff at Phillip Island

23 Apr 2018

A frustrated James Moffat is heading back to the drawing board after a largely disappointing 3rd round of the Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup championship at Phillip Island on the weekend.
But his timing is perfect, with close to two months to dissect and analyse before the series next hits the track in Darwin in June.

Moffat was caught up with backmarkers in Saturday’s race, spinning at high speed before a 13th placed finish.

That meant a 13th placed starting position for Sunday’s 25 lap race, with a much more promising run to finish 5th.

High Hopes for the Island

18 Apr 2018

James Moffat is aiming high ahead of this weekend’s third round of the Porsche Carrera Cup championship at Phillip Island.

In his return to the sport in 2018, Moffat has spent the opening two events of the season at Adelaide and Albert Park learning valuable lessons he says can come to fruition this weekend at one of his favourite race tracks.

“I just feel after two weekends in the car getting our head around things, this weekend I’m confident we can really push for a podium and get our season back on track,” Moffat said.

Speed Unlocked at Melbourne GP

James Moffat has walked away unfulfilled, but confident his new team is on the right path after the Albert Park round of the Porsche Carrera Cup series.

As a support category to the opening Formula 1 Grand Prix of the season, Moffat finally came to terms with his new Porsche on his return to the championship – with a string of consistent results.
“On Thursday night we found an issue with a damper in the front of the car,” Moffat explained.
“When that was fixed the car came alive.”
“We didn’t get the overall results we wanted, but I’m so much more confident with the car and our speed has improved dramatically.”
Moffat raced 4 times across the weekend – with finishing positions of 5th, 4th, 8th and 6th – which leaves the 33 year old 6th in the standings after two rounds of the 8 event season.
