James Moffat is hoping to continue his hot streak of form in Round 6 of the 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup Championship this weekend in South Australia.

The Carrera Cup series will play main support act to the Supercars ahead of an historic weekend for Australian motorsport, at a brand new facility at Tailem Bend.

“It’s a great time for racing in this country – we’ve just been at the night race in Sydney, and now the Bend which will be just sensational,” Moffat said.

“I’m excited to be heading to a brand new circuit, and it’s just so good for the sport to have a facility like what we’ll see this weekend.”
“From the quality of the race track, the pit facilities, and the vantage points for the fans – I think it will be another great weekend for racing and people will fall in love with the place.”

Moffat has hit form in the last two events – with a race win at Darwin, and the round victory at Sydney Motorsport Park earlier this month.

It’s lifted the 34 year old up to third in the title fight with three rounds to go.

It makes this weekend’s maiden appearance at The Bend pivotal.

“I’m hoping to take the momentum we have got going at Wall Racing from the last two race weekends into the Bend,” Moffat said.

“We’ve got three races including a longer Saturday race which I think suits me well, I’m hoping our form can continue.”

The evenness of the Carrera Cup series in 2018 has been on show in the past three events – with six different drivers winning the past six races.

The Tickford Racing endurance series driver is relishing the fierce competition.

“It’s so even, it’s so competitive, and I’m really loving being back in this series,”

“We’ve got three race weekend’s to climb a little higher in the championship, and I’m confident we can bring home another trophy this weekend!”

Round 6 of the Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia Championship begins at Tailem Bend on Friday morning.

There’s 3 races – headlined by Saturday’s fourth endurance race of the season – a 20 lap, 99 kilometre battle, before a pair of 8 lap sprints on Sunday.

All of the weekend is live on Fox Sports 506.
